 Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • The entry requirement into the Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning is an appropriate Bachelor’s degree at NQF level 6 (old) or 7 (new) or equivalent.
  • A pass in Matric mathematics on higher grade or a C symbol on standard grade or equivalent is required. Relevant post‐matric studies which demonstrate familiarity with the mathematical abilities required will also be considered.

Applicants are requested to submit details of employment for the previous ten years which will be used as part of the curriculum planning process. Applicants without extensive experience in financial planning will be required to complete the qualification over a minimum period of two years and will be expected to complete an additional online course focused on financial planning products. Milpark admits a small number of students onto its programme via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):

  • Entry via RPL is possible upon application to the Dean of the Faculty, but numbers are limited by legislation
  • Applicants with an NQF level 5 qualification in financial planning or wealth management and an NQF level 6 qualification in financial planning are encouraged to apply via this route. Academic performance on these qualifications will be a consideration and full academic transcripts are to be provided.
  • Please provide full details of employment, as well as a detailed curriculum vitae.
  • In line with our admission policy, applicants may be admitted on condition that they complete a refresher course on the latest income tax legislation in preparation for the Financial Planning Environment module. Additionally, applicants without prior experience in the financial services industry will be expected to complete an online course focused on financial planning products. Foreign applicants whose first language is not English are required to provide proof of proficiency in English prior to admission to the qualification. Foreign students who do not hold a South African matric certificate must present a matric verification from the South African Matriculation Board on application

  • Students on this qualification will be expected to have daily access to the internet as regular online interaction is expected. All Milpark study material will be made available online.

Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA)

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Foreign applicants whose first language is not English are required to provide proof of proficiency in English prior to admission to the qualification. Foreign students who do not hold a South African matric certificate must present a matric verification from the South African Matriculation Board on application.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applications from persons who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree (old NQF Level 6 or new NQF level 7) from a recognised university or institution will be considered. All applicants must achieve an acceptable rating in either the Milpark or NMAT assessments.

Admission to the qualification is subject to academic selection criteria. The applicant must:

  • be proficient in English. (Proof of proficiency may be required for international students.)
  • be computer and internet-literate.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) applications *

*Only opens in April 2018 for second semester admissions and registrations

Applicants who do not have the required degree but who have extensive work experience and/or proven leadership in their particular field of endeavour may also apply in terms of Milpark’s Recognition of Prior Learning policy; however, admission on these grounds is limited.

RPL applicants must have a minimum of 10 years of employment experience and demonstrate potential to complete the programme, and must submit:

  • a brief curriculum vitae.
  • a one‐page statement of why they believe they should be admitted to the programme.

In addition, an applicant may be required to present him/herself for an interview with the Selection Panel.
